The Return of Newt

HATCHET: Former Speaker Newt Gingrich's well-timed rant at a breakfast sponsored by the American Spectator this week points to a presidential run. Gingrich took shots designed to sink Sen. John McCain’s fading hopes, cripple the infancy of former Sen. Fred Thompson’s campaign, and generally reinforce what GOP primary voters are thinking about the field of Republican candidates: Yawn. Women for President

HATCHET: I have been particularly emboldened this week to speak my mind on women’s issues, specifically on which women I would like to see in the White House. The recent row between John Edwards and Hillary Clinton has also made me think about women in the Oval Office. In case you missed that dust up, here’s the reader’s digest: Mrs. John Edwards said that Mr. John Edwards is better being an advocate for women than Mrs. Bill Clinton. MySpace: A Boon or Nightmare for Educators?

Summary: With the prevalence of MySpace and other social-network sites in teen America today, perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised that, sooner or later, MySpace would invade my classroom. The nature of MySpace, which has become infamous for students showing off the seedier side of student life, has educators at a loss sometimes to know when it is appropriate to bring MySpace into the classroom.
